M&W 515 5' with front and rear chains, shear pin $1100.00

Deere LX6 $1200.00

Deere MX5 $1400.00

Is that a good price on the MX5?

Hi Mike,

What don't ya get a KK unit for ~ $500-550., standard duty, will cut the same stuff as the LX5... for 1/2 the price...

Spending more money for a standard duty, won't cut it any better... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

(add $90. for a slip clutch, and $60-70. for each set of chains, front/rear)

Mike...

For comparison, I spent $1,800 on my MX6 which was the lowest price when I priced these out at 5 different dealers. Most expensive dealer wanted $2,100. Therefore, price of $1,400 sounds like it's very competitive for the MX5.

Hi Anthony...

Great news!! Are you buying it from KC-Canary? Another dealer?

Thank you for some thoughtful answers!

KK - yeah, they are cheap. I have a hard time paying that much for them, though. I weld, fabricate and paint better than they do. & I am blind.

MidWest is very nice, but you add shipping to the price. (all prices I am listing is the bottem line, done deal) I buy a lot of stuff over the internet, and am getting to the point where I will pay a little more for something locally, where I can go and get problems fixed easily. If I had a MidWest dealer here, I'd be all over them. But I am tempted to go that route, and add some other stuff to maximize the shipping. I haven't been able to get delivered prices on them, though...

Corriher will do green, so that is an option...

Crazy as it sounds, the Deere MX5 seems like the best deal, to me.

No, KC wasa quite helpful and their price was lower than my local dealer, but my local dealer came down to about a 150 higher than KC, so I decided to go with them instead. I feel comfortable with them, not to mention they are only two miles from my house. Since this is my first tractor, I would like to have a good relationship with someone close, just so they can "hold my hand" if I need it...

Thanks for all the help though..

Have you looked at the Land Pride RCR 2660 or 2672? The local John Deere dealers carry that implement line and it seems to be as good as or better than the JD implements.

King Kutter at full retail of $550, King Kutter front and rear chain set at full retail $235 plus shipping (maybe $25) and a good slip clutch from Tractor Supply at under $90 and you've spent $900 for everything. Compare that $900 to what you'll spend on the others WITH chains and a slip clutch on them and see where you are. That's the number that matters.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
