I just know it's someone here....

Anyway, my satellite ISP was down for about 30 hours while a fiber optic cable was being repaired....supposedly somewhere around Laredo. That seroiously impedes a guys TBN time...

I know, I know, I haven't been posting much lately anyway (seriously have been busy getting things together so we can finish moving into the farm house) but I do try to keep up reading at least every couple days.

Anyone else affected?

Anyone ready to fess up? I was sure it was one of the PT guys playing with a mini-hoe, but the PT owner records thread just doesn't reflect that possibility........

Pretty sure these days that if you don't call ahead to find out where the underground utilities are, and accidentally damage one then the bill to repair it is yours.

While I have chopped a few of my underground downspout drain lines from time to time I have yet to hit a utility.

Surely you would not expect anyone to own up to that!!!! Wow, a fiber optic cable, that would really be costly, the cost to repair is nothing compared to the cost of the loss of business the cable owner would allege.

That was the first thing I thought too: either the satellite company is making one whopper of an excuse for being down so long.....or somebody is facing some serious expenses for cutting that cable.

In SD too, if you don't call in before digging to have the lines marked, you're in serious trouble if you hit anything; probably responsible for all damages, but I haven't read the details as don't want to find out the hard way regardless of the exact consequences. I have a commercial policy on the PowerTrac, and I'm not even sure that would cover any expenses related to damaging something in an unmarked area.

Several years ago a fella cut a cable with his PHD ... cut off all of south Texas south of Corpus ....everything .... they could call within their region but there were no comms out of or into the area for a couple of days. I'm betting that was one expensive fence.
