Well, I have been forced to surrender and hire a pro to finish setting the tile in my new house. I had begun to set the tile (I did much of the foyer) but after my body betrayed me I had no choice but to turn the job over to someone else. I had busted my knee up pretty good while showing one of my football players a blocking scheme move that went awry (not to mention I was showing him the move in the parking lot). As a result I had a bad case of road rash and the same knee was severely bruised. I guess the combination of favoring the knee and the excessive bending flared up my back injury that I have only recently been medically cleared from. My doctor told me that if I wanted to attend the dynamic carbine course that I am singed up for in November then I had best let someone else finish the tile. In a way it is for the best. This way I have more time to devot to painting and installing the casing and baseboards. I have decided that I am going to upgrade the base molding in the ares with ten foot ceilings to a 1x6 or 1x8 with a base cap and a quarter round. The other rooms I will reinstall the four and a quarter inch base that I took off.

Anyway, here are some pictures that I took this evening. Its starting to look presentable, and will really look good once the tile is grouted and the casing and base moldings are finished.

I didn't realize that was tile. I've looked at your pics a few times, and still don't understad what I'm seeing. Is it wood on the top? It looks like an engineered wood floor in some pics, but then in others, it looks like a brick style tyle. I do allot of tile, but not enough to even recognize what you are using.

Sorry about the knee. For me, laying tile is pretty easy, it's the grout work that I don't care for. Especially cleaing it with the sponge!!

Eddie,

The flooring is porcelain tile in (nominal) 6" X 24" "planks that have a glazing that looks like cherry wood and also has the texture of a hand hewn wood plank.

Looks great! I agree with going with a taller baseboard. We have 9' ceilings downstairs and 8' upstairs. Used 1X6" pine with a base cap and quarter round shoe cap and it really makes a difference. Much classier looking in my opinion and it helps to maintain scale with the taller ceilings. Post pictures when you get it all done.

That floor is really going to look great. We thought about using that in our house, but with the wood subfloor we decided to go with a hardwood floor. That baseboard will really make things look neat.

Take care of the knee.
