The 240 garden tractor has been very durable, convention belt/gear drive, but I've replaced multiple engines (18 hp oppose cylinder flathead Briggs and Straton) and the one on there now is using oil. So, I've been looking at the newer (definitely not brand new) JD offerings. My main complaint with 240 deck is the way clippings get built up on it and then stop and do the 1/2 hour of air nozzle blowing and some time garden hose washing to get the clipping out of the belt/pulley area, way back up under and hard to get at. I'm kinda liking the "F" series with the deck out front where you can at least see and work on it. Are there any "F" series owners out there and how have the decks been as far maintaining them and real world use. How have the "hydrostat drives" been. I'm scared to death that I'll wind up with bad hydraulic drive pump/motor and I've heard all you can do is buy new replacement parts as there is "No Fixing the old unit". bjr
