I just brought home this backhoe attachment, but am having trouble finding any information on it.

It is a Schaeff Namco model TB-86. It needs some work, but for what I paid for it that is okay with me. If anyone has any information on this model or brand let me know. I also need to figure out how to get it hooked up to my tractors hydraulics, but that should be another thread.

Looks like a nice find and a fun project. I too just got an old BH650 in similar shape as yours, it is self contained though and I hooked it up on the 3 point, filled the reservoir and dug a hole with it. It worked great for the 20 minutes until it leaked all 5 gallons of fluid out. Cylinders were pouring fluid.. I now have 4 of the cylinders in a shop getting rebuilt. After that, a new seat and it should be working pretty good. I may have a few lines to replace but it was squirting so much fluid I couldn't tell where it was all coming from. While running it though, it ran really smooth and seem to have good strength.

Good luck with yours, hope it works out for you... Bet yours wasn't as cheap as mine, got it for freeee!! :cool2:

you didn't have to tell me yours was free! now I don't feel like I got such a good deal!
if you don't mind let me know around how much it cost to get your cylinders rebuilt. I know the cost varies, but it would give me a idea. I haven't had any rebuilt in years.
I did hook this unit up to my log splitter just to see if it worked at all. it does, but I couldn't run it long since there is no bypass and the splitter would load up. I just wanted to see if it would move at all

Buy the seals and do it yourself. It's not hard. Messy but not hard to do

The estimate they gave me was about $100.00 a cylinder. They called me later and told me the shafts were pitted and recommended that they replace them for another $165.00 ea. I told them not to bother with that, I didn't see that much rust on them and I plan on emery clothing them. If I can get the burrs off so they don't ruin the seals then I don't mind if they seep just a little. I think I could by new ones for not much more than $265.00 ea, maybe cheaper.

Glad your ran for you, that is half the battle. Mine looks similar to yours but I am not a BH expert and don't know one brand from another. Mine is a woods, and have always had good luck with woods items. I got it from a friend that said it was left in one of his fields several years (approx 10) ago by some company. He contacted them a few times but they never come and got it. He had a couple of the cylinders rebuilt and used it one time to dig a house footing about 6 years ago. He had to borrow a tractor small enough to put it on, all of his is huge tractors. It set another 4 or 5 years and he offered it to me. Only way it is not mine is if that company comes to claim it sometime which I doubt will happen.

You can find them online. Google the brand of backhoe and which cylinder you're working on. You'll find em. Good luck!
