How many times have you gone down the road in the country and seen an old deserted homestead or barn and wondered what wonderful things and hardships it must have witnessed...?

A very true video, nothing like good country folks. I am so glad I was raised in the country with wonderful parents who made me learn good manners, hard work and the love of The Lord. Don't see many of those old barns around here anymore, everybody has nice shiny barns and sheds.

I think that's a great statement of the times... People have always been way to eager to pay for the luxuries in life; yet the more essential something is for living, the less we are willing to pay for it. The tide (hopefully) is turning though... people seem more willing to pay for fresh, locally grown food. You can see it here on a regular basis...guys who have farmed for years and every fall hoped the market would support their costs... vs others who have learned to capitalise on this new found status and have found a customer base willing to support them.


Please, PLEASE don't turn my comment into anything politcal; I grew up in a family/neighborhood of farmers, and see both sides of the equation.

In our area, there are many historical homes and structures throughout Caswell County and the surrounding Counties. When I see an Old Farm House, I envision all the Children that once lived and grew up there. I picture entire Families, after a Long day of farm work, gathering on the front porch and yard, eating watermelon after a great Supper.

I came across an old stone foundation last fall just as the snow was starting to fall... all winter I planned and schemed to go back in the spring and take pictures and measurements, then go to the local historical society and try to find some pictures of when the buildings were there. If successful, I was going to transpose some of the old photos over the new, and work them into a Christmas Card... this spring my employer put them up for sale. Ah well, maybe next time.

Makes you think don't it. My wife keeps on saying, Every time I cut your hair it gets grayer. In the big picture it won't be long before we all take that last trip to where ever we are going.
