I picked up a Kargard Company Compressor
Year build 1969
I welded the fuel tank , rebuilt the carb, located a used exhaust manifold and have it running pretty nice.
The problem I am having with it, is that there seems to be oil mixed with the air. I know you get some , but I am getting more than I think is acceptable.
MY MAIN ISSUE IS, IF THE OIL IS COMING OUT OF THE COMPRESSOR HOW AND WERE DO I ADD THE OIL to the compressor, , THERE IS NO DIPSTICK OR ANYWHERE THAT I CAN SEE TO ADD OIL. IF I RUN IT OUT OF OIL WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS THE !!!
The only information I have was on a small name tag
NAD BD 393214
W-P 150 TEMP 650 Deg.
Div. 1 HEADS .094 Shell. .094
HEADS RADIUIS 2.1
YEAR BUILD 1969
PART NO. 519045-14
C.R.N.
THE KARGARD COMPANY
MARINETTE,WISCONSON USA
Does anyone have any suggestions ?
Thank You in advance for the reply !

There has to be a crankcase plug on it somewhere to put oil in. You need to look harder. It may be a plug with a square depression in it that you have to use a 1/2" drive ratchet to remove. It has a plug somewhere and standard would be to fill the crankcase till it is level with the plug hole and reinstall the plug. If you are putting too much oil in the air, it may be time from some piston rings.

I tried to upload some pictures of the machine. I am not sure if they came out but take a look at them.
Thank you in advance for the reply!

My goal it to get the machine running nicely.
And possibly trade and or sell it and get myself a nice heavy duty dump trailer.
When ever I sell something I like to have it up to snuff and if there is a problem identify the problem.
My goal at this moment is to make sure the compressor portion of the machine does not run dry.
Thank you for taking a look !

Any chance the compressor is oiled with engine oil??

I do not believe the engine oil is related to the compressor, I have changed it with fresh filter and the level is staying the same.
For what ever reason I just cannot come up with how to view or test the compressor oil that is why I published three photographs of the unit.
I am not really sure what type of a compressor it is but I think it a Kellog Rotary style but like I said I do not know.

Oh well I will keep plunging away until I resolve the matter.
I appreciate the input.
Thank You

I don't think this compressor has oil in the crankcase.
I think the rotors and bearings are oiled from an in-line lubricator.
Check the outlet pipe from the compressor and see if it goes into a
very solidly built tank. Not a regular air tank, but a tank with a bolt on top.
The one we had also had a sight glass on the tank. Oil level was maintained in the tank to
lubricate air tools and accessories down the line, but to also lube the rotors and bearings in the
compressor.

Hope this helps.

I very much appreciate every body's input !
The compressor has been sitting for three years and now I have a use for it. It had a stuck valve from sitting once I corrected that if fired up and ran very well.
The problem I am having now is that there is oil spewing out of the air intake to the compressor and I still do not know were or how to check the oil level in the compressor.
its not my first rodeo and I know if I run it the way it is I will run out of oil and kill the machine !
