many years ago probably mid 80's when the crew and I was framing a house there was a product came out intended to use to diagonally brace up the corner walls of a house etc, etc,
Called: T-Braces these took the place of having to cut out a wide area of the studs when using a 1x4, when using the T-Brace all that was required is to cut a saw blade width 5/8 deep into the edge of the studs, was a real time saver for us, However the Homeowner didn't want to use them, He wanted the traditional 1x4 cut in the walls, ............. these were left over and were relatively inexpensive at the time so they were not sent back, One of my employees had a 1958 Chevy truck he was trying to fix up and was re-doing the bed he had gotten some cedar 2x6's to floor the bed, .........
He had an idea to use these T-braces to paint black and put in between the gaps of the boards, I must say it turn out nicely and no one would know what he had used.....
lately I was given about 30 of these T-straps and thought about using them in the gaps of my trailer floor, quite often I haul dirt/soil in the trailer and have to put down a tarp to keep it from falling through, this would be my sole purpose for using them, I know some of you folks are very meticulous about the looks of your trailer and pressure treated boards do shrink quite a bit leaving a 1/2 or more gap between, so I thought I would pass this idea on to those who might be interested in doing such a thing, The length of these T-braces are only 12 ft. and would be perfect for trailers under this size, although could pc, two end on end as i will do on my trailer,
Pictures of my trailer will be coming later,
when complete it should look similar to these truck bed in the pictures, except they will be attached on each side with 1 1/4 pan-head screw directly into the boards, I probably would space the pattern approx 2 ft. apart,
