It's kind of nostalgic. The place hasn't been open in years.
I've never been inside, but I imagine an old dusty, greasy smell of times past when red or green American iron were the only things working the farms around here. Maybe some boxes of old IH parts laying around inside too.

(Maybe I'm just daydreaming) /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here's another pic of the old shop.
The faded lettering says "Complete auto, truck and tractor repair". The phone # is the long outdated alpha-numeric format.
There are still pieces of old IH equipment laying around the property.

Yep,
Those were the good old days. IH sold pickups, scouts, and travelalls, not to mention appliances.
My uncle still has an IH refrigerator and a deep freeze, both still cold, quiet, and reliable as a rock.
Now, seems they've become just a footnote in the CNH history.

I'm kind of surprised International Truck hasn't gotten back into the light truck market, given the popularity. I know they threw a bed on the back of a crew cab medium truck chassis but I mean a true light truck. It would be neat to see a retro-Scout. My parents had one way back when and it was a miserable vehicle but I still have a soft spot for them /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There was a time when the Travelall was the Cadillac of tow cars for travel trailers, especially before 5th wheel trailers became so popular. I don't think they sold that many of them because of the price, but you had the power of a truck with the comfort of a car. Of course the Chevy Suburbans were popular and very good for that purpose, but having driven both, I found the Travelall easier to get in and out of, and a much smoother ride. But like a lot of people, even though the Travelall would have been my first choice, I just couldn't afford one.

Bird,

If you still have that "hankerin" for a Travelall, here's a good one on eBay and it's just up the road a piece (in Nebraska).

Too late, Bill, I don't have a travel trailer anymore, or kids who need lots of room in the back. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
