My old and beat LA680 FEL float function has never worked correctly since I owned it, at least as far as I can tell. The control lever is pretty sloppy, so it is probably caused by wear in a linkage or something - the valve assy is mounted up front on the loader with a long control lever, but the valve is fairly well packed in behind a steel plate, so I can't see much. The lever does hit the back of the slot in the cover - don't know if it is supposed to - and I sometimes have to give it a yank to get the bucket moving up, making me think sloppy linkage. At any rate, float occurs intermittently at best, usually when I expect/need down pressure, and/or vice versa. Any suggestions on what to look at to improve functionality and/or how to get at it?
How is the float function supposed to work anyway? If I click the control into float, it doesn't stay there unless I hold the lever up. Is it supposed to stay in float when I let go, until I push the lever back? The bucket does seem to get into a float-mode sometimes where I don't have to hold the handle, but I don't know how to get it there (or it might not be in float, just appears to be floating).
