I'm in the process of cleaning up a recently purchased property and uncovered a few pieces of old iron hiding in the weeds. Anyone have any idea what this plow is? Is it an old horse plow adapted to tractor use? Worth trying to revive? I'd like to rehab it and try make it 3pt friendly for my tractor. I didn't see any markings on initial inspection.

I also uncovered this piece. Got a fair idea of what it does, but don't know what it's called. Not the best pictures, I have yet to pick it up and move it. I'm guessing the two separate pieces add on somehow. The rods laying across the main piece are just laying there, not attached. I plan to pick it and set it on some timbers, will get some better pics then.

The bottom pictures are of a spring toothed harrow or cultivator depending on the nomenclature used? It does look like different types of shovels could be bolted on.

I'd agree with your observations on the plow. I'd suspect it was once on wheels.:D

The spring toothed cultivator tines look like they're bolted to a JD diamond bar. The diamond bar in the 50s was used to attach all sorts of cultivation equipment. A friend of mine gave me what called a "soil ripper", which is just 7 spring tines bolted to the diamond bar. Below is a picture of it adapted to my 3ph on the 4010.

The diamond bar is attached to an old JD M on its drawbar. What I did was to buy a drawbar that goes onto the 3ph lift arms, make a frame that bolts to the drawbar and goes up to form a lift point for another top link. The top link from the tractor holds the drawbar in place to keep it from rotating. Then a top link attachment was put onto the diamond bar.

My friend who gave me the soil ripper also worked part time in a machine shop. He bent or welded the pieces needed. He also made some adaptors to put the round shanks on which to mount some disc hillers onto the diamond bar. I made raised rows with the 20" disc hillers. I've also a combo disk/cultivator setup that I bolt to the diamond bar.

Of course, with no till, I don't use this now until or if I decide to redo my garden rows. It's all painted up nice in JD green and sitting on a pallet on castors in the basement of my carriage house.

Thanks for the pics. I think my find is a bit different, but similar enough that your setup is quite helpful. Gives me ideas........ I'll have to dig it out and ponder my options (wish I had a bud in a machine shop).

The plow is an Allis Chalmers and it fit the B, I have one of the plows that I converted to TPH. Mine had the same attachment hardware, but mine had the slat moldboard, can see pics here.

milkman,

That's perfect!! Kind of what I was hoping for when I uncovered it. Thanks for the pics and video links. Your thread of the find and setup is quite helpful indeed. Except for the moldboard it looks just like mine.
