Hello everyone. I recently had a very old jd cultivator given to me. It was made by the jd plow co. So it's fairly old but in great shape. I want to modify it to have a hydrolic lift and was wondering if anyone had tried it or had a similar project. It may be possible to change to a 3 point hitch style but it kinda looses it old school appeal. I was planning on taking the old lift systemoff, then move the bracket to the center and modify it to hold a cylinder. Any ideas or pointer would be great. Thanks.

I would just leave the power lift that is on it if it works. they seem to work well, IMO it looks liek the sem thing on some of my old drills, when moving jsut pull the rope an it engages the lift and it rotates and either lifts or lowers the unit,

it looks like a john Deere CC-A field cultivator,

the parts catalog is available at the John Deere parts in PDF form. https://jdparts.deere.com/
search for a CC-A field cultivator, parts catalog number is PC0554 I tried to up load a copy here but to big got the forum soft ware limits,

Not sure if this link will work or not or if one needs to be signed into the JD parts page. http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/pdfs/PC0554.PDF

on about page 20 it show there idea for a hydraulic lift,

Thanks for the link. It looks very simolar and I think it's a good setup to use. The current powerlift doesn't work otherwise I would just go that way.

May I suggest that you take th power lift apart and clean it up, see if there are any small springs broke or missing and lubricate and re assemble and try it,

a number of years ago I had one on the drill not working well and it just needed to be cleaned up, and I think a spring had rusted through and broke.
