My wife works for Western Missouri University. She has a Winnebego type bus that has a lab inside. She takes it to High Schools and Junior High schools in Western MO for science days to try and encourage students to have more interest in science. She was recently asked to take it to the Old Threshers Reunion in Mt Pleasant, IA for a day. We decided to take our camper and spend a few extra days at a state park and then go on to the event on Saturday.
The Old Thresher Reunion is every year over the Labor day weekend. It starts on Thursday and runs thru Sunday. There are displays inside some buildings along with vendors. Outside is a good oportunity to look at a lot of old tractors, both steam and combustion. On Saturday, they had a parade of power. It started at noon with antique autos in one lane and combustion tractors in the other lane. When they ran out of autos, the steam tractors began along with the combustion powered tractors. The parade lasted for about 2 hours. The featured tractor this year was International/Farmall, but all were represented. If you like old tractors, this is worth a visit.
