Might see what applies in your state.

Noooooo way I'm saying anything to the state or county.

I agree with you about ground water, but this thing is only 35 feet. My regular well is something like 280 feet. Anyway, if I do fill it, it won't be with anything that would hurt the ground water. At only 35 feet, dumping it in there won't be a whole lot different from dumping it on the ground in regard to water contamination.

N80,

First of all its time for you to drop the N80 and go get the D300. :D:D:D:D:D Then change your TBN name. :D:D:D

Well, I've got a D200!:D The N80 was my first serious camera and the 'username' just stuck! (And I'm too lazy to change it and the D200 might be my last camera....as long as it lasts anyway. (I love it and have no need to upgrade.)

I will keep looking for someone with a load of some time of 'dirt' or rubble. They could drop it near by and I could fill with the FEL. Which will be fun!

I understand on not contacting govt. But you can usually look up info like this in the library or on the web without having to identify yourself or explain why you're looking it up.

Many areas have multiple aquifers (note: my father is a hydrogeologist; I have a BS in geography with an emphasis on physicial geog.). I don't know what your geology is but I wouldn't be surprised if your 280ft well is in a different aquifer than the surface water. Anyway, I agree that anything that you would reasonably dump on the ground is probably not going to matter much in a 35ft well, just avoid "trash" like someone suggested, and obviously avoid dumping in the 35ft well anything with liquid/gaseous petroleum products, soluble heavy metals, salts, etc. in it.

Hi George and the Gang,

Just pondering about your old homesite, (what a wonderful place), some more. In later years, do you think the owners of the old house ever put in a septic tank?

The reason I ask that is...on my property an old house was in a different location than the newer house I am living in now. Messing around one day, (planting azaleas), I found the old septic tank. It is still in good condition.

Probing around, you might find one nearby, who knows? If so, with your tractor you could dig it up and use the free septic tank for your own cabin and uses... Of course you would put in the drainfield, etc. but at very little cost.

Just a thought...
