Hi all, thanks for your help ahead of time. BTW happy flag day as the fireworks are going off outside.

Picked this disc up to soften up our neighborhood softball fields. Was towing behind truck tonight(first time) and the inside part of the gangs, both sides were elevating and staying up in the air when being pulled. Soil is compacted moist clay with patchy zoyia grass and clover cover. Thoughts on why it did what it did and how to fix to level out so all discs are cutting? To aggressive cut angle, not enough weight on top?

Also just want to double check with you all, if I move the outside adjustment bar from the current hole all the way to the end of the bar (3rd hole last one on end of bar), this should reduce the angle of attack?

I am not looking for deep cuts, just enough to turn the top few 1-3 inches then come back and dragged. Oh what we do for beer league softball.

Interesting disc plow. Set up is specialized to a very particular task. Hopefully someone on the forum may be able to actually have some personal knowledge on this very unique disc plow. I can say this, however. If your inside discs are lifting out of the ground and your outside discs are doing all the work,I suspect your setup is too agressive. I would reduce the angle and put some weight on the inside and see what happens. Post back.

From looking at your pictures, I think the blades are backwards. It looks like the backside of the blade is facing forward which would cause the outer ends to want to "steer" towards center. I don't know if the gangs were swiched around or if the individual blades were installed backwards on the axles.

On second look, there also seems to be an abnormally large gap between gangs. I can't tell from the picture, but are the two long links in the center setup so that one can cross over the other? It looks like one angle iron is up and one is down. If they are crisscrossed, that would pull the inner ends of the gangs forward of the outter ends and that would put the disc blades at the proper angle.

I agree, something is backwards. The inner dished surface of each disk is supposed to be the surface contacting the soil. Maybe it was taken apart for transport at some point, and reassembled incorrectly???

What you have there is a REAR section of a drag-type tandem disc that someone has "rigged" . The struts that are now connected to what frame you have showing were SUPPOSED to tie into the front gangs so front and rear would "steer" somewhat as it was turned (while pulling w/ tractor) Disc blades are backwards if you intend to use as it sits. When the disc was a whole unit, the rear gangs were angled FORWARD as they are now angled towards the rear.

The "gooseneck" that is being used as a tongue (hitch) would have attached to the FRONT gang, just behind the REAL tongue in it's original state. It has the arch to it in order to clear the front gangs.

Switch the disc unit side to side.:)

Farmwithjunk, I think your right about it being someones project. With that gap in the center, it dictates that the gangs need to be setup with the inner end forward of the outer end. The blades would be cutting properly and also moving soil inward to fill the gap.

Thanks for the info, Thinking reciprocating saw will take care of most of the nuts that need to be removed.

Does it really make much of a diff of the disc are facing in or out? Isn't the way the disc are facing push the direction of where the dirt is headed? In goes in / out goes out?

No, the discs definitely HAVE to face the correct way. The concave side always faces forwards regardless of whether they throw the soil outwards or inwards, left or right.
