Hi i'm looking at getting a dump truck and have found two that are in my budget first is 89 f-600 cummings diesel and seconed one is 81 c60 366 gas motor. My question is this where is a good place to find parts for these older trucks ie. brakes, suspension, body panels. Can i go to autozone and buy parts for these larger trucks? Too late to call or I would,I thought some people here might know. As far as body panels would dealer still sell stuff for a truck 27 years old?

I think autozone has those parts. I know that napa or carquest does. As for body panels you will have to go after market or junk yard.

My favorite place to buy carparts is from RockAuto. Usually they have a sharable 5% off coupon available, which at the moment happens to be "1250609468505" (Enter the code above in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart.) Also, they do cheaper shipping to a Business address if you have one, or can get packages at work. (Which is what i usually tend to do, I usually save $3-6 on shipping that way).
Their prices are way below what i can buy anything for locally, at National Auto, or NAPA.

Parts for both are available. Somehow I doubt you will be finding medium duty truck parts at autozone or from carquest. Napa on the other hand does sell medium/heavy duty truck parts. One thing to remember about medium/heavy truck parts is that a large portion of the parts on the vehicle are used by most every truck manufacturer. Brakes, engines, transmission, differential's, axles, air brake systems are not normally made by the vehicle manufacturer like cars, they are made by other companies that deal mainly only with that type component.

You should be able to get the majority of the parts from the Ford or GM dealership depending on which one you go with.

Personally I would go with the Ford because it has a diesel engine, just make sure it is a Cummins and not one of those boat anchor Brazilian import engines. The 366 in the GM is a very durable engine platform but don't plan on passing any gas stations with it.

The Ford would be perfect; unless it has the Lucas-Girling brakes. The L-G parts are a little hard to come by, expensive, and for most hard to troubleshoot/diagnose.
