I have a BX 1800 (his name is Krusty) that I bought new just over two years ago. I've made this little beast work hard but I've also taking good care of it by changing fluids regularly and keeping it in a dry unheated garage. The hour meter will be clicking over to 600 hours this weekend. I would like to know who has the most hours on their BX and what kind of repairs to anticipate as the hours crank up.. I've only had one minor problem in the 600 hours and that was when the wire that goes to the temperature guage disconnected from the engine clip. I have a FEL and use it about 10 percent of the time.

I have 945 hours on my BX 2200. I bought it in April of 2000. The only repair that I have made that could be considered as age/hour related was replacing the power steering hoses. I think that was in the spring of 2004, with about 675 hours on the tractor. One sprung a leak, and I replaced both to be safe.

That's great to hear. I can anticipate relative problem free operations to about 1000 hours at least.

Is it an easy fix to replace the hoses? Can it be done without draining all the fluid? Is there any air lock danger after putting the new hoses on? What I'm wondering is... does the air in the new hoses just fush through the lines without creating any problems? Since I'm 75 hours from the point where it happened to you I'd like to be prepared.

My BX2200 has 630+ hours. Bought in 2000 new. At just under 600 hours, I too had a power steering hose to leak, and replaced the set. looked in the manual afterwards, and low and behold, it said to replace all PS hoses at this point. Interesting? Earlier in it's life I also had to replace a leaky FEL connection hose (the one that stays with the tractor).

On a bigger scale though, at I think 300-400 hours, not too far out of warranty, the seat bracket mount broke. It is integral to the transmission front cover, so a major repair. Through some discussions between the service manager and Kubota, claiming safety concerns, Kubota ended up paying all but about $150-$200 of the roughly $1000 repair. Can't complain (too much!).

All in all, a great unit.

My Bx2200 was bought in August of 2002 for use in a side business. I have put 1025 hours on it so far. Problems encountered have been the leaking fuel sensor and the breaking air filter bracket. My 78 year old Dad loves to drive it on our property using the 4' box blade or 4' disc or single bottom plow. He can sure be tough on equipment though.
I realize that this is certainly not the oldest BX'r but thanks for allowing me to share.
