What's the earliest year/model that mahindra was offered in the states as a domestic product?

I believe it was 1994 when mahindra usa emerged. would that have been the 375/475 line?

In any case.. I know a guy that is becoming a mahindra dealer.. and he is looking for.. something like a B275 ( 1963 ) model.. that was produced for mahindra's domestic market.. not here... etc. i think he wants it as a 'prop' for his storefront.

any ideas?

( OOPS.. I see there is a mahindra forum.. would some mod move this please!! sorry!! )

Can't believe that no old tractor historians have popped up to instantly answer your question. :D It's pretty clear from a number of sources that 1994 was the year Mahindra tractors first came to the USA... at least officially... but for some reason, I always thought that the Model 575 was the very first one to be officially marketed here. Not sure where I remember reading that however.

Still, I agree that your new dealer friend should try to find a REAL antique from before the days of MahindraUSA. I still wear socks I purchased in 1994... that's not "old" to me at all. :D

You are talking about the Mahindra 275. It was originally manufactured by Mahindra beginning around 1965. I don't know when/if these tractors were sold in the US. http://auto.indiamart.com/tractor/gifs/mahindra-b275.gif

The 265 looked a lot like the 275, but had less HP: http://www.lovson.com/gifs/mahindra-sarpanch1.jpg Tractor data says it was built beginning in 1991.

Versions of these Mahindras were sold in the U.S., and looked a lot like some IH tractors. Mahindra USA was established in 1994.

575 -- 1994
475 -- 1995
585 -- 1996

The E350 looks a lot like some of the mid to late 60's IH tractors, with the egg crate looking grill. Car Trailers

The 3505 is similar to the E350 EquipmentTraderOnline

The 25 series still resemble some of the older tractors in their styling, although not nearly as much as the older Mahindras. EquipmentTraderOnline

Thanks for the info.. I'll pass it along.

First off, we don't wear them expensive Texas cowboy boots up here in Taxachusetts! Luxury sales tax on them would be too high!

Secondly, Being (semi-) retired now and not getting ANYTHING LIKE that fine triple-time-and-a-half "OT" that a certain aircraft mechanic gets on holiday weekends, I go down to the local Goodwill store and find two matching shoes! Well, at least close to matching!!!

Thirdly, if they happen to have a few holes in them... that's what GOD invented the Boston Globe newspaper for! I find one and stuff it in there good... and all is well. ;)

Now you know why I don't work in the rain! :D

Dougster,
If you find a left Mahindra RED rubber boot in size 8, send it to me. With all the rain down here now, I sprung a leak in my left boot at the 3 inch mark. :(
