Mowing On BX-23, mower height adjustment knob...

Hi all,
Just sitting here in 23" of snow thinking mowing thoughts...Exactly what does the "TOP" refer to on the deck height adjustment refer to? I asked a guy at the dealer and he said if I raised the deck all the way up and turned the knob to "top" the deck would be locked in that position. Either he's full of air or my BX is broke. Anyone have the skinny on this question?

Well, if those are the only two choices, your BX is broke. His explanation of the function of the TOP position is correct. With the deck removed, you can slide under the tractor and look at it from the bottom, should be fairly easy to figure out what's broken or out of adjustment.

no not full of hot air. top means you can leave deck in highest position and deck wont go down when using the 3 pt implements up and down independently. If you cant seem to rotate it into the top position after lifting it all the way, you may need to turn the bolt adjustment that is behind the left rear tire.

That would be a great feature if it works. Our Kubota B2710 has the 72" MMM. If you are using implements on 3 point you have to raise MMM deck and insert a pin and clip on both sides. Kubota made this the most difficult thing to do on this tractor. Firstly you have to use a floor jack under side of deck to raise it enough to align flange on tractor to two ears on the deck. Then, you have to decide whether to try to insert pins from inner side with clips on out side or vice versa. If your hands are size of a 3 year old and you have an extra elbow in your arm, no problem. If not it's a colossal PIA. Other this one single item a great tractor!

Top means that when you try to lower the mower it will not move, and 0" means when you try to lower the mower it will go to the ground and not "float"

It's also is used to lock an under armor protective plate in the up position and still be able to raise and lower your 3 point hitch. I don't mow with mine and the armor is really useful when driving in the brush.
