Tractor
RK24
I just ordered an RK24 last week. Still waiting for it to come in.
One reason I wanted a diesel tractor is I have a lawn roller that now
weighs around a ton and my 18.5hp tractor has a very hard time pulling
it even on my fairly flat yard. The slightest rise will make it struggle
if not stop. I'm sure that a 24hp diesel should have no problems anywhere
in my yard. I also will have the MMM and FEL and BH plus a rear blade.

When the BH is removed will I be able to hook the roller to the tractor or
will I need a draw bar for the 3 point hitch?

When mowing and rolling would you remove the total FEL or just
remove the bucket?

Any other tips for a first time NEW tractor owner?

Thanks in advance for any help with my questions.

Welcome to TBN.

Congrats on the new tractor.

Hopefully other RK owners will chime in with detailed information about the tractor you purchased.

Taking the entire loader off when mowing makes it night and day. Much smoother ride without the loader bouncing up front. I would think that pulling a roller would more comfortable as well. You will not have a problem pulling the roller like your other tractor.

Congratulations on the new tractor. Make sure you post some pics when it arrives!

Concrete filled? If so add an automotive coupler on the front and use a trailer mover to pull it. It weighs a ton or more. I also have a 6' Hoelscher rolling box blade. Shears off the mole hills before flattening lawn. Neighbors see this and go out with lawn tractors / turf tires and get stuck. Yes, I have a sick sense of humor.

I have inspected the RK tractors at the Rural King in Gainesville, Florida several times. I am 90% certain RK tractors come standard with a bare rear/center drawbar attached directly to the tractor frame. You will need to bolt on a 1-7/8" or 2" ball to the rear/center drawbar, assuming a ball hitch is the attachment method on your existing roller.

When I want better forward visibility when mowing trails or harrowing fields for up to three hours I drop only the SSQA bucket. When harrowing I want the bucket occasionally to fill in some low place by back dragging.

Any tips for a first time NEW tractor owner?
With an FEL and bucket tractor instability increases substantially. The higher the bucket is raised the more unstable the tractor becomes. When transporting material in FEL bucket be mentally prepared to lower the bucket instantly when you feel the tractor beginning to yaw.

Congratulations on the new RK24. I picked one up not too long ago. (Just rolled 50hrs on it) It is a great little tractor.
In regards to your drawbar, the RK24 comes with a drawbar standard. You just need a ball or pin depending on your hitch type on the roller.
I would recommend removing the FEL if mowing anywhere that’s not wide open. It can be easy to run into stuff if you are trying to navigate through tighter areas such as around trees or patios.
A couple tips from a former tractor tech and operator:
your sub compact tractor is NOT a dozer. Do not use it like one. Don’t ram things with the FEL. It will damage your cylinders and the lid at frame.
When digging with the FEL use it like a shovel. Pointy end down, use weight of the tractor to push down, curl the bucket and lift to roll dirt out. Take smaller bites. Tooth bars or small tooth buckets really help to dig over the flat cutting edge.
RK24 comes with an auto throttle, learn to use it. You don’t need to operate at Wide open throttle for most jobs. You can dig, lift and move at idle, using the auto throttles needed for increase in engine rpm/speed. Hyd speed will be slower but for a new operator will be easier to control. Learn to use the forward pedal while digging with a FEL.
Keep the wheels in the ground. Make sure you have enough ballast on either end to counter the lift of what you are trying to move.
Be aware of your angles on slopes. Don’t raise you FEL or attachment up on inclines if at all possible to help avoid rollovers.
Wear your seat belt! The ROPS only works if you stay on the tractor.
Keep your rear sway links properly adjusted for the implement you are using. Tighten the jam nuts up. Be sure to keep a check on them during use. If the come loose with the MMM links on the tractor it will bend one or both links from the swaying motion.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I picked up my tractor on Saturday.
It's been raining here and will continue to do so for another day or two, so it's still in the trailer right now.
I'll see if I can post some pictures in the next few days.
