Just a friendly FYI.
Dont get in a rush like me...... Be sure and drain the oil from BOTH drain plugs :mad: :eek:

Was wondering why 9 quarts overfilled it, talk about feeling stupid.. I use to be an auto mechanic and Ford was notorious for double sump oil pans that had 2 drain plugs..

Oh well I will change the oil again on my next days off........

And in the case of the Transmission/Hydraulic fluid (AKA UDT) all THREE drain plugs :)

FWIW I suspect that experienced mechanics are more likely to make this mistake because they don't read the manual as carefully as a NOOB ;)

Don't feel so bad. I changed mine the other week and forgot to put the drainplug back in! Yes, you guessed it. It took twice the amount of oil to fill it back up. That get's expensive. Thankfully, I never try to crank them over until I see signs of oil on the dipstick.

And yes, I used to be an ASE certified mechanic.

This probably makes me more dangerous LOL..

And D.D. I was guilty leaving plugs out a couple of times when I use to wrench years ago.. The most exciting thing though was leaving a fuel line loose after rebuilding the carb, and as luck would have fuel spayed found bad coil wire and I had a nice fire in seconds... The good thing was I alway kept a large CO2 fire extingusher in my stall and had it out in less then a couple of seconds but it sure made for a lot of excitement..
