Jinma 204 -- now gone
Hi All,

Ok, let me display my complete ignorance here but, if someone tells me a tractor comes with 1 double outlet, I presume it is a good thing. Is that 1 double hydraulic outlet ?

Being a double, is that 1 out line and 1 in line for hydraulics ?
Or is is 2 out lines ?
If 2 out lines, why 2 ?
Presumably, if I am correct above, this would assist if you decided to install a back hoe ?

You will have to pardon me here but I am way over my head here and would like to try to understand.

Thanks for any help

Tom

I've always heard them called 'rear remote' which actually consists of 2 hydraulic connections. You need 1 path to get the hydraulic fluid out to the attachment and a second path to get it back.

What it has is probably a single rear remote that is activated by a lever somewhere on the fender. With this configuration, you would have to have the lever always actuated in order to get flow to a backhoe that requires tractor hydraulics. Not the most ideal situation but it will work.

Now the remote connections could be a Power Beyond extension. You can easily tell if this is the case because the two remote connections (the in and the out) will have to be connected together with a loop hose when the connections are not in use. This is the ideal setup to add a backhoe that requires tractor hydraulics.

My utility (NH TN90F, 80 PTO HP) machine has 2 factory remotes, the lever for one of which has a detent for the purpose you mentioned--to allow it to be "stuck" one way or the other. The other remote lever is normal.

My small excavator (Bobcat 430) has a similar switch for its stick hydraulic line--so you can keep the fluid flowing for a breaker, etc.

The problem I have always seen with Power Beyond (a JD trademark, I think) is that it's an extra remote good only for wide open uses, those with their own controls, whereas the detented lever gives the user more flexibility. Plus, think of the fun if that loop hose gets snagged.

Power Beyond is the only good way to add more hydraulic controls to an open centered hydraulic system. Open center is a bit cheaper, so many older or smaller tractors have that.

If someone told me: "a tractor comes with 1 double outlet" I would ask them to explain that better, as it could mean several different things.

Very old tractors had single acting hydraulics - only need one hose, only got lifting force, gravity brought things back down.

Double acting means 2 hoses, can apply pressure to either side of a cylinder - what most of you are familiar with.

Double remotes could mean 2 sets of remotes - a common option. This would be 4 hoses, with 2 hoses per lever, and you can run 2 different things at a time.

You could have only the backhoe hoses, _no controls at all_ which is of little use, or you can have remotes, which means it has a control lever, and the whole works to make remote hydraulic cylinders operate. Big difference.

Put all of that together in different combinations, and I would not know what the fellow is saying exactly.

My guess is that you are getting one remote control valve with a pair of hoses to run one hydralic cylinder. You may be able to lock it or bungie cord it in 'on' position to run a backhoe, but this is not a 'standard' backhoe connection.

But that is only a guess.

Should be an in and an out on modern tractor or as we call it a set of remotes. You can usually buy a PB plate or section cheap that is sandwiched in or on the end of remotes and then route return flow to mfg reccomended tank port.

Hi,

Well, this was on a 2004 TYM 330HST so a fairly new tractor.

I find that when dealing with some dealers, they just kind of toss information off at you and there is so much of it that by the time you assimilate it, the conversation is over. When you think about it afterwards, you come up with lots of questions because you didn't understand half of what was being said.
Not knocking the dealers but the presumption seems to be that you know or should know as much as they do about what they are talking about.
In this case, after I assimilated most of what had been said and figured out what it meant, I was left with one question and that was what a double outlet was.
Isn't there some kind of standard for a conversation. Like double outlets should be double remotes of which a regular person would have a better chance of understanding.

Anyways, I thank all for their input and have come to the conclusion that it was a double remote.

You help is always appreciated.

Thanks again
Tom
