I've a new problem with my 7500hst. One of the 3 point lift levers is not lifting.

It quit in the middle of a back hoe job. (I was actually cleaning up the site with the front loader.) One lift will power all the way up and drop down and the other remains motionless.

What's up with this? A simple fix or a major repair?

Doesn't look good, the arms are connected like a cam, I see leaking oil from the right top arm. I would guess broken lift arm pin/ casting in diff. housing. 3pt. hoes put HUGE stresses on the linkage.

It looks like it could be one of two things.

Either the splines on the rock shaft or lift arm are stripped, (unlikely), Or the rock shaft is broken.

To check this, have somebody operate the 3point control, and look at the lift arm that's NOT moving. If the shaft in the middle turns, it's the splines, but if it doesn't, it's the shaft. Regardless of which it is, the same surgery has to be done. You'll need a new rock shaft.

Yep, this is probably close to what you have inside...a solid shaft.

Thanks! The photo is not of my tractor but one I took from this site while I was using the search function. But looks almost the same.

Is this something that a fairly mechanically inclined owner can remove and replace or are special tools and/or knowledge needed and best left for a dealer to fix?

I would have to say yes you could do this. Since I use to do this sort of thing I have to remind folks there are 2 parts to this problem. First to fix the broken shaft, then to figure out why it broke. Sometimes there is no answer to question 2 and once replaced it lasts a lifetime.

Good Luck,
Rob

Good point Rob and I'd add one more part to it: What ELSE is broken or damaged as a result of the primary failure. Looking at the exploded view, there are some bushings that may have been damaged if the shaft broke and got mis-aligned.

I suspect extreme stress from 3pt. hitch mounted hoe, I wold make sure the subframe is properly connected and everything is tight on the lower end, as anything loose there transmits the stress to the upper lift arms.

Strange that if it isn't working they are EXACTLY aligned with each other in the picture. How did that happen? I would expect to see one considerably higher than the other if something is broken.

If you read post #5 you will note that the picture is not of the tractor that belongs to 'skeptical'.
