Hey all do you guys keep your side panels on or pull them off to help cool the motor down? the owners manual says nothing about this.

Thanks.

Side panels tend to keep out debris that would clog the radiator. Removing side panels should be fine in fairly clean conditions, but I dont think it would help a lot. ... I do wish for a higher capacity radiator.

I leave the panels on..if the outside temp gets that hot time to shut down..not just for the tractor either.

We leave all panels in place regardless of temperatures.

Since V8Only (the OP) has a 755 with a Yanmar engine, I doubt he has any worries about overheating.
I only remove my side panels for maintenance.

The only time that my side panels are removed is for maintenance.

no concern i just figured why do some manufactures have side panels and some dont. So I thought there might be a summer and winter mode.

I don't know about your little JD but I have a 230hp Versatile that has the side panels. With them on it forces all the hot engine air over top the transmission and out the back. In hot weather I did notice a marked difference in the engine/tranny temp with the panels removed. By removing them it allowed hot air to exit out the sides of the engine which kept the hot air from adding to the cooling load on the hydraulic/tranny oil.
If you want to try it do it. You won't hurt a thing.

The first tractor we ever had with side panels was an orchard model to keep stuff out of the belts and hoses, now it seems they all have them; none of our old tractors have them.
