Does any one have a opinion on the 1215? If so, is it a good model and what are its weak points. Are parts a problem?
Any input would be appreciated

I can't answer any of your questions.I did google 1215 it said it's a lale 80's model (88.89)I would have guessed early 90's.I am thinking its a lawn tractor and is a belt drive? If the image i got was correct,i do see these around from time to time or at least the same style maybe not model? So i am thinking it most have lasted or at least the ones taken care off?By the image i looked at it looks like the same tractor the guy down the road has but his is a 13?? something he has had it a long time but that is about all i can tell you.Hope someone comes along and answers you.

Indeed the 1215 is 87-88 vintage, 12HP Briggs engine, and belt drive. This is a "lawn tractor" not the GT variety so is lighter duty.

The better units are the 1200 and 1250, 1282 or 682-782 that are the garden tractor version with shaft drive, sundstrand hydro, and single or dual cylinder Kohler engines. They are built heavier and can be found in the $5-800 range.

I would probably avoid the 1215 unless just need a light duty lawn mower. The issue would be parts for either model will be a similar cost so you might as well have a GT.
