I am seriously looking at a 2013 L 3800. Price with Shuttle shift, QD Loader and backhoe w/ thumb, loaded tires (ag) is $29,000 delivered. Being in Upstate Vt. I don't look for smoking deals like people get down South because they rarely happen. So what sort of deal is this to you guys????????
Main use is long driveway maintenance, ranch chores and light trail maintenance on 66 acres of mixed dense woods and 15 acres of pasture and cleared rough spaces. Bigger would be nice but on the other hand I value the ease of trailering with only a pickup and the size is better for working in the woods. I already have attachments for that size as well as an old TO 20 Ferguson which I definitely will be keeping. Opinions, considerations welcome.

I paid $24 for my L3200 HST with R4s & a SSQA along with a Land Pride 72" lkade & 5' rotary cutter. It was $20k or so fo just the tractor. Add $1k for the extra HP & you have a $8k hoe, which seems a bit steep.

I bought my L3800 in upstate VT for that price in early 2012. FEL, BH77, HST, wheel spacers, loaded tires, work lamp, R4s. I asked that dealer for trade-in price on a bigger Grand L last week. I would have lost over $5k/year if I traded. Resale is terrible on standard Ls due to the hitch problems.

Please keep this in mind. If you think the tractor might be on the smaller size for its purpose get the Grand L, or pick a different color.

Thanks for the tip on the hitch issues. I can see all too well why it would drive you nuts. You haven't lived untpil you graded with a dead style pto and blade or run a post hole digger. I've had plenty of that over the years.
The guy that referred me to the 3800 has one for a year now and claims their is an adjustor valve that calms his down quite well as well as does keeping the RPMs down. He got his last year for around 19,000 with SS / loader.
Thanks to the info I have picked up here and there I see that is looking like $9000+ for that back hoe which is nut's. Yon dealer is going to have to do better than that. I only wish there were more dealerships nearby with more offerings and that the new emissions crap wasn't looming. I hate feeling forced into quick decisions.

That's about what I got quoted lasted year for a 3800 HST, with loader/backhoe/thumb/rear ballast/block heater/etc. I think it was 29.5

Hard to find a "deal" in NW Montana either. 15 year old machines with 5000 hours still sell like they're right off the showroom.
After I couldn't swallow Kubota, I looked into Kioti. Seems like you can get more machine for your money.

Not a bad price & the standard L hitch thing is not near as big a deal as it's made out the be. It's an internet sensation! I use a box blade and post hole digger on a L3800DT with no issues at all! I'd buy another in a heart beat!!!

I think the price is $2000 too high even for your area. Call Barlows and get a quote.

First report on the new series is jerky hitch may be fixed.. They are supposed to have a re-designed 3pt valve.

Think about if the new L3301 (L3200 replacement) and new L3901 (L3800 replacement) really do not have the jerky hitch syndrome then think about what the L3400/L3700/L3200/L3800 will be worth used.. "Oh those are in the series that may or may not have the jerky 3pt syndrome" Once a new improved model that does for sure not have the problem comes out, the preceding models will devalued. Of course these are just my opinions. And you know what they say about opinions :)

My lack of heat, A/C & HST+ is a far bigger issue on my L3200 than the slightly jerky 3pt. It's an annoying issue to be sure, but livable.

I'm the one reporting the L3301 being smooth, but a sample size of 1 tractor doesn't necessarily mean the issue is fixed. Apparently the price on the new Lxx01 models is going up a couple grand as well. I'm going to guess people will be a little more forgiving of a slightly jerky 3pt to save a couple grand. I'm also going to guess I'll be doing pretty darn good selling my L3200 in a year or 2 to upgrade to something with a cab compared to what I paid for it (probably be hurting on buying the replacement though, especially if I get something new).

On second thought, If these new models are going to cost $3000 to $4000 more, the old models may actually appreciate, jerky 3pt and all.:)
