I am getting a T1530 45 hp (38hp pto) and putting a SQ172 on it. I know the SQ172 is not the most aggressive but once I look at larger the min pto HP is not meet.

What your thoughts and opinions?

Come Monday I will have pics to share and finally an appropriate avatar.

That is a good size for the tractor and it would give you good life with a goods parts supply if needed.

I just bought a six foot Squealer. It cuts very cleanly on my grass. I am very impressed with it.

Sorry about my duplicate post. I took ownership for the tractor and brush hog on saturday. I am very pleased with the performance of the sq172.

My fields range from 4ft high golden rod /hay mix to multiple years of over growth. I was able to chop medium bushes to small trees. I would not push the the cutter and tractor past a 2' multi stem soft bush or a 1.5 hard wood tree.

I was able to cut a total of 7 acres saturday and sunday.

Since this was my first time cutting I was very satisfied. I focused on my low wet areas that are now dry due to the drought. I did do a hillside at 25-30 degree slope since it too will be wet at other times.

Ran for 9.5 hours total and used 10 gallons of fuel.

My next post will be about my box scrapper.. :)

Sounds good. You got a lot of mowing time in it sounds like. Good idea that you took care of the slope areas while it was dry. Once you have got the area cleared you may want to sharpen the blades. Cutting small trees and other tough items will nick and dull the blades. By sharpening you will get a nice clean cut on your grass next year. You will not have the small trees etc to contend with again. The Squealer is a well built piece of equipment. Between my Kubota 60in mmm and the Squealer on my Case there is not a safe blade of grass at the home place.

Hey are you guys using the plastic tube the manuals came in for tool storage. I keep a pair of pliers, wire, and a couple of pins in there. Works well for that.
