I am currently looking at 2 trucks for sale. I need some opinions of these.
1. '95 F350 Powerstroke Xtra cab DRW, flat bed with 225,000 miles. 5sp manual. $4900
2. '97 F350 Powerstroke reg. cab DRW, flatbed, longwheel base, 5sp manual with 86,000 miles. Also has Ramsey 12000lb winch mounted on bed. $6000
Both trucks are in about the same condition bodywise. I don't have any idea if the prices are reasonable or not. Also wondering about the pros and cons of long wheelbase. BTW, both look to be in real good shape, no rust, dents, etc. Any advice given will be much appreciated. Been lurking and reading for awhile, but first post. Thanks

newer with winch and much less miles would be my choice, unless you need the cab for sleeping on long hauls. I like long wheel bases.. evens out bumps.. usually adds some weight too.. and that helps when towing for stability.. etc.

both should be in the era to have the 7.3psd

I would spend the extra dime and get the low mile one. The longer the wheel base the better tow vehicle it is as a general rule but a little more difficult in the WalMart parking lot or stuffing in your garage.

The 225,000 mile one is getting up there. Yes, diesels go for a long time and Ford makes a great truck, but that engine is a 250,000 mile or so powerplant before needing overhaul. Yes, some go longer.
