Tractor
John Deere 420 garden tractor
I am looking at a small Hinomoto E14d 4wd. No loader use, Just need it for a small general chores tractor and some light 3pt work. I know parts are a bit harder to locate, but its much more affordable over a yanmar or kubota compact, atleast around me. I have 2K to spend, or trading fodder. Anybody need a nice JD 318 with extras?

"A bit harder" is a severe understatement.

Well, I kind of new that, much like my old massey mf12, hard to find parts for. Atleast the wonders of the internet make it a bit easier to procure parts from overseas sources. The little tractor needs nothing, other than a fresh coat of paint, my best description of the color is sky blue. The most work it would ever see is pulling a 1 bottom cat 0 plow that I can adapter to cat 1 at a couple tractor events we attend each year. So its life will be an easy one. It will be kept indoors out of the weather. This is all, of coarse, if I can find away to get my tractor to him and the little E14d back to me. I kind of like it being an oddball, with a shiny paint job, it will stand out amoung all the others! Cheers Mike

I had an E18 that I mowed 12 acres of grass a week for 6 years and all I ever needed was oil filters. That being said,I wouldn't buy another 2 cylinder Hinomoto. You can get these cheap and the reason being, if you do need something you're going to have to work to get it. Whatever you save up front is eventually going to cost you time, effort and money. For $2000 you can use it a couple of years and throw it away and you haven't lost anything. As for the parts situation, I've been trying for 3 months to get a set of pistons and rings for a 10 year old Case with a Mitsubishi engine. One would think you could get rings anytime, anywhere.

I always like my little yanmar YM135. I just need a larger diesel 4wd and this guy will swap me even up for my JD318 and its attachments. I would love something with better parts support, but just dont find that localy to me or willing to swap tractors. I have been out of work since last july so money is tight. Nobody is jumping thru hoops to buy my 318, its been advertised for some time now. I doubt I would wear out the old E14d or kill it anytime soon, but something going wrong is possible in everything. I was hoping the guy in IL would chime in how bad parts are or are not to get on this model. The only thing this E14d has problem wise is some minor "farmer" style electrical wiring that needs redone, and a minor oil leak on the pan gasget. He said she starts easily in normaly weather, and just a bit harder when its cold out. I am not sure what to do, affordable small sub compacts are rare out here, I prefer one that is very short wheelbase, 4wd, diesel and has a 3pt on it. Nothing over $2200 price wise. I am open to suggestions.

If everything works properly now, it'sunlikely tou'll need any internal parts. Injector pumps, injectors, water pumps and electrical items can be rebuilt. Glow plugs and sending units can be bought from NAPA. Bearings and seals can be bought from local bearing supply houses. I'd personally prefer it over the John Deere you have. If that's what you want, I'd say go for it.

I am just going to hold off for right now. Hoping to sell the JD318 outright and get another diesel cub. I got our current one back up and running again, its fitted with a cat 0 3pt and does most everything I need. We want to find another one as a back up and for my wife to use at tractor events. Thanks. Mike

Some part are available from US sources & some are obsolete. I can get parts from Japan & do have a E14d parts tractor. The JD650 (comparable tractor ) also has obsolete parts. Everything has a price. If it is in good shape & isn't abused it may run a long time without needing parts.
In regard to 10 year old Case with a Mitsubishi engine, email me with what you have. I should be able to supply parts for it.
