Mahindra 5010 Cab w/ FEL & HD Cutter, New Holland C232 w/ FAE Mulcher
I own a landscaping and tree company. I've picked up a contract bushhoging empty lots for a homebuilder I do landscaping for.for now its approx 17acres cut every 5weeks during the growing season. Instead of renting a tractor r borrowing one, like I have in the past, I'm looking to buy one just for the purpose of bushhoging.plus would allow me take on other bushhoging jobs. A buddy of mine bought ths Tn65 thinking he could clean it up and flip it for a big profit.(Tractor was weathered from sitting outside). He cleaned it up and has had it for over a year and the wife said it has to go. Its a 2004 New Holland Tn65, w/ 400hrs. He offered it to me for $5500.00 (what he has in it). Whts the largest size cutter I can pull behind the tractor?

The specs show that tractor has 52 PTO HP. The rule of thumb is 5hp per foot of mower.

If you are doing small areas, I would suggest a 6 - 8 footer. That would make it easy to move.

the most you would wont to pull with it is a 6ft mower the tractor is worth 5500 but not to much more i would be concerned on the hours but if it is all mechanicly sound it is worth it

Our TN60A - one size smaller, pulls a land pride 72 inch 'heavy duty' with out any problem at all. It's also run a New Holland 9ft haybine and a 4x4 round baler too.

I would have no fear of pulling an 8ft with it.

As for 400 hours? Our 07 is approaching 500 hours with regular maintenance and zero issues so far. My biggest complaint is the bolts on the 3 point hitch tend to come loose now and again. I think for 5500 that's a steal and you would have a brush hogging tractor for a long time.

I would go with a 7~8ft cutter for that tractor.

I would go with a 7~8ft cutter for that tractor.

it would have to be a light duty cutter if is a 7ft or a drag type 8 ft because the tractors does have enough weight in the front end to keep the tires on the ground i have a 2wd 6600 cap tractor and with now front weights a heavy duty 6 ft makes it light on the front end

That tractor will pull an 8'r easy... 5500 is a great price for the hours, and what is your concern on the hours? If it is truly 400, that is barely broken in, or do you figure that the hours aren't honestly represented, as in 400 isn't real...
