Hello, all.

I have a 2005 Diesel pickup (bought new) that used to be my daily driver and towed a horse trailer. It has 45K on it. I now have another car so I don't use it as frequently. The problem is that I have put much less than 1000 miles on it since the last oil change this spring.

How often do you think I should change the fluids in this situation?

Thanks, just looking for other points of view.

Once a year if doing less than the regular change intervals.

It has probably been posted here a bunch of times but like my father taught me, oil is cheaper than bearings. I realize the "green" implications of an oil extra oil change but when in doubt, change it out, and treat it to a new filter as well. I can't imagine what a salvage diesel engine costs, yet alone a factory crate engine. Just my .02.
