Looking for opinons on a Honda snowblower. There is a guy selling a used one near me that I am interested in. I think it is the top of the line model or close to it.

Basci details are 11 HP, track drive, elec start, hydrostatic, 32" clearing width. It is 3 years old and looks mint from the pictures I have seen (have not seen it in person yet. He is asking $1,500 and I think this model sells for about $2,500 new.

I am in southwestern Maine and we get a fair amount of snow. It can be wet and heavy in late season. My current snowblower is too small for my needs and tends to struggle with larger storms and/or wet snow.

If anyone has used one of these Hondas or are famalier with them, I would appreciate your input, thanks.

I have a Honda 928 Hydro. Its a great machine and can handle all a Nova Scotia winter can throw at it. I frequently take out 4-5 foot drifts.

The machine your looking at sells for around $3200 here.

The tracks are great as they allow you to "climb" up the larger drifts to take cuts out of them. The only drawback to the tracks is slightly harder steering than a wheeled machine.

It handles wet snow pretty good, I've only had one clog. After i sprayed the chute down with oil there were no more clogs in the wet snow.

My only complaint about the machine is that the handles are a little too low for me (6'1). I have been thinking about adding a 3-4" piece to the handle but don't know what that will do to the control cable lengths. Also, Be sure to add drift cutters to the machine, it helps a lot in the deep stuff.

I like them. We have 8/28(maybe it's 10/28) and it's over 10 years old. It's been dependable. In really heavy wet snow it overheats a bit and runs rough. The only issue we had was a tire and the reset the bead at the dealership.

We did my driveway and parents for years. My biggest gripe is that when we got it they didn't have anything over 28". Now they do.

Thanks for the input. The bad news is the guy selling the used one refuses to return messages. The good news is, seeing as how it is July, I was able to get a great price on a new one.

I have a 8 horse I believe 32" hydro track drive. I bought it when I lived in North Dakota. The wind would pack the snow in unbelievably hard and it always handled it. It will throw the snow 50 feet. I have owned it for 7 or 8 years. Still runs great. I paid around $1800 back then. I live in Iowa now and don't use it much but I guess I'll keep it. I think you will be happy.

Wish I saw this post sooner. I have an 1132 track drive at work. It eats up the belts to the auger/impellor. Other than that, low handlebars. But it starts/runs great, easy to use, the weight transfer is good for scraping. Track drive will go through anything, and the hydro drive makes it effortless to change speeds and direction.
