Opportunity to get an 03 PSD reg cab long box for 7K

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2003 F350 Reg cab Long box in great shape for $7,000.00. It has 122,000 miles on it. It has been driven by a friend of mine and maintained by him. It was his company truck used in excavation.

Here is what it needs:
New left side ball joint. Right side is 6 months old.
Oil change and fuel filters.
Tires!!! All 4 are bald.
windshield He drove it with a crack for the last 3 years.

Other than that, its great. He has had no major mechanical problems and I am well aware of what issues can come up with the 6.0. I have had 2 of them.

I do not need the truck..... It would be nice to have as a work truck and to loan my friends when they ask to borrow my truck.. The price seems cheap even knowing that I will put a thousand into it after I buy it. So the price is attracting me to it. I think I could sell it for 9-10K after I fix it.

Whats your thoughts.

Since you already know about the problems with the 6.0 PSD and you have $7K burning a hole in your pocket, it's a no-brainer--buy it and enjoy. I'd worry more about the condition of the transmission.

Since you know the truck and the owner it might be a good deal. Also, since you're aware of the 6.0 thing in 2003 then you know the risk (or whatever) that there is in owning one. I've got one (2003 and 6.0 PSD) and have not been successsful in selling mine. Lastly, can I be your friend?

The discussion I had with my friend was exactly this: What will blow first, the engine or the tranny.

I never thought about not being able to sell the truck. I looked at it as the perfect landscapers truck. Great for towing and has a long bed, plus it would be great for plowing. I guess it comes down to getting someone who wants a 6.0....

This is a lot to think about in the hour and a half I have left.....

Seriously, it has been a big pain to sell this truck. I've had two promising deals fall through and several, "thanks anyway"'s because of it! I used mine again Sunday and pulled my gooseneck roughly 200 miles and doing 75 mph with out an issue but a lot of people just don't trust them.

I offered him 6,000 for it and he said no. I am done with it. I don't need it, so its no skin off my back.

Since you do not need it I would let it go and allow someone who needs a good deal on a good truck the opportunity to own it.
