We just ordered a JD 1023e, with 60 inch mower deck and 54 inch front blade for snow removal. We went with turf tires as it will be used primarily for mowing.

I'm on the flat so my turfs do fine and I don't have added weight. With the 3ph blower, the front tires could use some weight to help steer though. Plowing, I don't have a problem.

We have some hills we mow but I think with the 4 x 4, we will be fine. I have used an MTD garden tractor and it got us by for years. I did have one accident on it but it was user error and I was trying to hurry and got myself into trouble. We have a JD 4310 with a loader, rear blade, box blade, 72 inch mid mount mower and bush hog for the heavier work and snow removal if we get a heavy snow that the 1023 won't handle.

Congratulations on your new machine! The turf tires work better than industrial tires in the snow. Many posters prefer them as they act more like a siped tire with many biting surfaces.

I don't have any issues with my 54" 2-stage snowblower, turf tires, and 4WD, and I have some moderate inclines as well.

Enjoy!:proposetoast:

This is good to read! I haven't had problems with the R4's on my 4310. We went with turfs on this because it will be our primary mowing machine. I will use the 4310 for brush hogging, loader work and snow removal if the 1023 can't handle it. There have been times where I have had to use the loader to move snow into piles when we have been hammered. I spoke with the dealer yesterday and he said they have the tractor and mower, but have to wait on the front blade.
