After two months of reading, researching, viewing, and driving, I ordered a new NX5510 Cab 24X24 with the turf tire option. I have a John Deere 1070 and a 6400 (with loader), both of which are great tractors and have been absolutely bulletproof. The 6400 does the heavy lifting and brush hogging and the 1070 runs a 90 inch rear discharge Woods finishing mower.

There was a problem, however winter and the advancing age of the owner. So I wanted a cab. Deere did not make a cab tractor that would fit the door in my storage facility. So I looked hard at Kubota, Massey Ferguson, and the New Holland Boomer. Did not really care for the Kubota hydrostatic transmission, and there was an abnormal amount of negative feedback on the New Holland CVT transmissions. I probably would've ordered the Massey Ferguson 1759 with the power shuttle, but the dealer was only interested in selling what he had on the lot, which wasn't that great. So I kept looking.

Kioti kept coming up in posts with surprisingly good reviews. Something was wrong, however, the price was too low. Now I'm old school, and I get suspicious when someone is selling something way below everyone else. You get what you pay for, right? So I went and looked and searched, up, down, all around these tractors trying to figure out where the corners were cut, and I could not find anything negative when compared to Kubota. Same thing regarding feedback as to Kubota versus Kioti. So I'm going to take a chance!

Purchased a Land Pride 7 foot snowblower to go with it. So this will be my big snow remover in the winter for a long driveway, and it will be my choice for mowing acres of lawn on hot summer days. The snowblower is probably a little large for this horse power tractor, but with 24 gears, I figure I can find just the right reverse speed to handle most snow situations.

I'll send pics when I get it. :)

I Wouldn't worry about the snow blower size. I Have a six foot Landpride and my XR4046 handles it fine. Had the snowblower on a Farmtrac 300dtc before I bought the LS just had to use a lower gear.

I plan on placing driveway markers at key sighting points so I can do most of the snow blowing by facing forward and lining them up in the side mirrors—with markers actually well off the drive but used as straight line sighting posts.

In the past I dealt with snow by turning my Rhino rear blade backwards and pushing the snow. That worked well, but did not keep me out of the cold. It worked less well when you get snow after snow after snow like last winter.

I see a lot of people on u-tube snow blowing way too fast, like they were pushing a snow plow. I plan to go slow, sip coffee, and listen to music. :)

Sounds like a great tractor. Regarding Kubota vs Kioti quality, you won't find many Kioti owners moving "up" to Kubota. I think most of us own Kioti because we discovered exactly what you did, that Kioti makes as strong or stronger tractor for significantly less money. The Kubota dealers love to yammer about "pot metal" etc but the bottom line is that South Korean steel and metal production is state of the art.

Congratulations on the new tractor, LittleBear! I think you'll love those big Titan turf tires for snow, and most everything else except deep mud or heavy ag field conditions. You may know this already, but the Titan turfs will put your overall width at about 84", so too wide for an equipment trailer or a car hauler. You'll likely need a deck-over or a rollback to transport.

I did some serious head scratching over the choice of tires. Dealers want you to buy R4s, but there is plenty of feedback that R4s are not that great in snow. Also, they are inferior to R3s for comfort when mowing. My JD1070 has R3s, and they are pretty **** good in snow.

The width issue also kept coming up. Kioti literature says 65.7, but the numbers from users kept coming in at 78 inches. The 21.5L-16.1 rear turfs for the NX5510 would add (as you pointed out) several inches to that as they are 21.5 inches wide. I went and looked at these online, and they looked perfect for my needs: they will tend to float when the ground is soft and will not form trenches like my JD 6400 with R1s, and they should have plenty of grip in snow. I wasn't really sure how wide they'd be till I saw your 84 inch quote, but I still think I'm okay: I don't haul my tractors around; my rear mower is 90 inches; and the Land Pride snow blower cuts 84 inches. Personally, I also think they are great-looking tires.

Well, the "R4's in snow" debate always generates passion on both sides. From my experience with the R4's on the DK40SE, the R3's have to be better. Just fine with chains, though.

Congratulations and welcome to the pack. Heck of a tractor.

I've always hauled my smaller tractors on a heavy-duty landscape trailer when I need to move them. So it's new to me not being equally self-sufficient if it comes to moving my NX4510HST cab. Fortunately, it's been 1-1/2 yrs and I still don't foresee the need for a long while. My hay guy was willing to sell me his 10,000 lb, 20' deck-over for $1000 a few months back. I was ready to jump on it until I did some ciphering. The NX cab models with FEL and a heavy implement, can exceed 7K lbs. Not only would I have been pushing the limits with a 10K trailer, I would have had to move up to a heavier truck to pull it! That's the only downside I've found to having the big Titan turfs. Man are they wide! Also, they are 2" less in diameter than the R4s, so the tractor sits an inch lower. That's actually a plus for me because it lets me squeeze into my garages and barn bays without having to modify the door trim and headers.

You should be just fine with your 84" snowblower, and eventually an 84" box blade if you use one. The Titans are about 84" sidewall to sidewall, but the width of the actual tread track is just shy of 82". For a rear blade, I use an 84" Woods HBL84-2, which can be offset a foot beyond the outboard sidewall if I wish. Works perfectly in snow without having to go up to a 96" blade.

Photos and come winter, action photos of your blower too!
