Hi everyone,

I should be ready to order a new 855D come the new year and I was wondering about obtaining best pricing.

It looks like many folks simply use the JD online ordering tool to spec their Gators and then wait for delivery at their local JD dealer.

While convenient, this seems like any price haggling opportunities are lost by using this method.

Are Gators so popular that dealers aren't willing to budge much on pricing or should the ordering/option choices be done at the dealership to take advantage of any price negotiations that might be possible?

Another question - are the prices on the ordering tool about the same as what you would pay if you added it later and put it on yourself or do you get a good discount if the parts are factory/dealer installed?

Thanks for the help,

Marley

Up here there really wasn't that much haggling on price, I would think it all depends on where you live.

I found I got a better price when I visited the dealership when purchasing my Gator. However when I need parts for my Gator I get a better price ordering on line and then picking up at the dealer. Go figure!

Go haggle with the dealer, nobody buys at MSRP or simply orders online. You will get 10-15% off depending on locale. I've had 3 Gators and not a lick of trouble with any of them. Be sure to get power steering! Only thing I wish I had on my HPX diesel.

The online "build your own" has a request quote feature. Might see where the dealer starts vs MSRP

It is true that over the past two/three years John Deere has seemingly reduced the MSRP/actual purchase price difference. Formerly, I could count on about a 15-20% discount on JD purchases; now I'm lucky to get much over 10% off. It likely is beneficial to build what you want, then take 12%ish off the price and use that as an estimate of a "reasonable deal" to start. You may also want to comparison shop at more than one dealer.

I just picked up my 825i at a local dealer and pay $ 2000 less than list.
