Tractor
Kubota M59, JD530, JD310SG. Restoring Yanmar YM165D
Well, after years with on the old tractors we've decided to order a brand spanking new JD 110 TLB. Actually it's my wife's decision.....it usually is... Seems like she is forever talking me into trying new things. Otherwise I'd probably be sleeping in a cave - if not under a rock. And the old JD530 tractor would still be an everyday using tractor instead of a retired friend.

So a new 110 it'll be. Hooray! And the plan is to order one set up just the way we want it. So naturally the first thing I asked about was getting a green one - and found that wasn't an choice - darn - but that still leaves a ton of options that need to be specified with the machine. Naturally I'll get all the hydraulics, but what about the engine/tranny heater? What in the world is an LV24872 "air deflector kit"? And why would a ROPS/FOBS be optional & cost $796? I thought that ROPS/FOPS was the part with 4 posts that held up the plastic roof? Has anyone ordered that ROPS option?

Help! I'm floundering in the JD options page...I see a listing for a $64 cup holder, but not a word about a toolbox. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks, Scotty

ROPS is a roll bar/cage. If you're belted in, it'll keep you from getting squished when you roll the machine.

That's what I thought too. But I forgot the part about the seatbelt being a required part of the system. Thanks for reminding me. I'll report on what it is after the dealer gets the info to me.
Thanks, scotty

Be sure to get all optional skid plates! They should have been a standard feature!

If the 3-pt hitch is still an option, get that. As for the FOPS vs ROPS,
the FOPS may be a requirement for commercial work (OSHA?), but not
a requirement for your own use. As ART says, this machine needs
undercarriage protection, too.

You may also want to compare/contrast to the new Kubota M59 and
the Yanmar CBL40. Make those dealers work for the $50-60K you are
going to spend!

Just brought my new 110 home this past April.

The skid pan is a must as other's have mentioned. Get all the hydraulic options that are available - front and back. Then, if you need to expand the types of work-attachments in the future; you'll be set.

I got the hyd thumb on the hoe and you'll need the quik-tach (HD) bucket for the hoe with that option.

Colorado gets cold, yes? I got the optional heaters for the engine and tranny - they're cheap insurance and it's easier to get the dealer to install than having to do it later, yourself. Especially the tranny heater. You'll have to remove the cover for the in-line sump hydraulic filter and breach the dam on nearly 16 gallons of hydraulic fluid!!! (Let them do that...)

I got the work-pro 48" forks and the work-pro HD bucket with edge, too. If you're working in rocky areas, I think the replaceable edge is worth the extra money.

The light package is a no-brainer, too. Late fall and winter work; you'll be lookin' for that extra lighting.

I bought the extended warranty (2yrs and additional 1,000hrs - $950) and a very heavy duty grapple ($2,200) and paid another $2,200 in shipping to WA state. Even with those costs, the tractor came in at $46,120.

I looked at the competition -- (extensively) -- and the M59 was a shade over $60K with thumb, 3pt, all the same options as the 110. IMO, the Yanmar isn't in the same league as the 110; although the price is in-line.

Oh yah, I got the JD top n tilt, too. If I had it to do over -- I'd just stick with the standard 3pt and drawbar. I use the top cylinder 98% of the time and the CCM cylinder with check valves is the route to take, IMO.

The cup-holder comes as a part of the orange triangle SV warning sign. I got that, too. I figured that it would make my insurance man happier if I had it...

One final note -- if you plan on using chains in the winter, you'll need rear wheel spacers; cause the chains won't clear the inside of the fenders. I've got a post on here regarding the option I chose to remedy that problem.

Sorry for the long post --- Best of luck with your new 110.

The air defector kit may be to prevent snow from getting into the air filter. I would ask the salesman to explain, if he can't check with service manager.

According to thr JD configurator, the air deflector kit is for diverting hot air gernerated in the engine compartment away from the operator station, espicially during the hot summer months.
