Hi everyone,
I’m looking at a Sicma 57” rotary tiller, which as you can see below has the end tines of the rotor turned outwards. I’ve been working all my life with rotors with end blades turned inwards (hard, dry, stony soils) with no problems, but I have no experience with end tines looking outwards. My question is, does the orientation of the end tines affect the work of the tiller (clogging, catching stones etc)?
Thank you so much!

Each tine section has 6 tines, 3 tines to the left and 3 to the right. Like my King Kutter tiller but it looks lighter than the KK.

Because the end flanges are inboard perhaps the likelihood of grass or trash wrapping up against the bearings is reduced.

What is the point of having the tiller body 6-8" wider than the working width of the machine?
Shielding the bearings from wrapping trash is not rocket science.
Half the blades on each rotor flange should face each way.

My previous tiller has the end flanges adjacent to the body. There is minimal space (1”) between side of the body and flange. My question is if with the alternative arrangement, stones are easier to get caught between the end flange and the side of the body? What are the pros and cons?

All the 3 pt tillers I've used and seen are like the one on the 1st post. Never had any problems on stuff getting stuck there other than the minimal wrap on the ends when tilling tall stuff. I've tilled rocky ground, I've tilled over stumps from canes and nothing got stuck.
