Oshkosh JLTV First Drive Review - Motor Trend

this article put a real smile on my face. First, we know how to build the best. Second, we US taxpayers are actually paying a reasonable price for the
highest possible quality. Oskosh has been building remarkable trucks for a long time. I think every airport fire truck is built by them.
And here they have built a truck that Mad Max would have loved to drive.

Poor Arnie is now stuck with his slow Humvee...although I bet he has sent it to Banks. Now there's another success story. GM sends the Duramax to Banks, who
actually derates the engine for additional durability, and the engine used in the vehicle is designated a Banks engine. What a trophy for that company.
Banks is well know in the motorhome business for boosting engines for more power and fuel economy. Company just has a marvelous reputation.

There are some success stories in government purchasing. Interesting that they approved the other two competing designs also. I'm sure they don't want all their eggs in one basket
if Oshkosh plant is destroyed.

When i think how many exotic/fancy cars there are out there for a quarter million dollars, and then you look at all the engineering on the JLTV, all of a sudden a quarter million
bucks seems pretty reasonable. And if my rear end was sitting in one of those seats, which apparently it never will, I sure would appreciate the IED protection.
If the Russians will stop selling the bad guys armament capable of hurting these trucks, we would also be in a much better place. Of course, I wonder about some of the equipment/arms we have left on prior battlefields coming back to haunt us. Probably all shot off by now.

Our men and women in these trucks are priceless. Glad the trucks aren't. Not cheap replacing 200,000 trucks but if that's the price of staying alive, so be it.

I would have posted this in Transportation but none of us who aren't in the service are going to get to drive one.
