thru some swaping, etc.. I've come to own a rem 760 pump in .270

seems like a neat smooth lil action.

Don't bvelieve I've ever shot a .270

have shot .223, .243 30-30 30-06 7mm thru 8mm types as well as 300wm.. plus some wildcats..

anything to know about this .270?

action good? and robust ( it is a remington..e tc )

is there an owners manual onle for this modle?

has a heap 3-9x40 scope, but lron leaf site is on and folded down and front blade still there.. scope is on a weaver or picatinny base of some sort..

thanks

The 760 Rem.family of guns are very popular for big woods/stalk type hunters up north.Light to carry, accurate, and fast second shot.they do kick in the larger calibers but the .270 shouldn't be too bad.

Nice flat shooting rifle.I had a 270 in bolt action and the 760 gamemaster In 30 06.It was very accurate for a pump.
Like was said it was good in the woods for a fast 2nd shot.

Those are good rifles! I had a browning BAR that was a direct competitor to your gun and I enjoyed it. The .270 caliber has been around about as long as the 30-06. I shot a .270 for years deer hunting but shot a .243 all of last year.

I bought one in 30-06 about 38 years ago. Have the one with the basket weave and monte carlo stock. Has been a great rifle. There are ten round magazines available for them.

Along with Birdmans qoute,
Others have given good info here also. Those where/are great hunting rifles IMHO. Personally I would rather have the .270.
Those rifles were also made famous by The Benoit Brothers.

Own 1 of those and also the semi version , ( 7600 series ??? ) both in the .270 caliber . Don't deer hunt no more but do Roosevelt elk hunt and although some will say that is to small a caliber , the number of elk I have harvested over the last 25 years say's differently .

For elk hunting , I have resorted to a custom bullet / bullets . Barnes makes some good ones as I have stayed with bullets weighing 150 grains or heavier . The Original Barnes all copper bullet had a small hole in the point similar to a hollow point .

TSX Bullet | Barnes Bullets

Love both of them . Got the semi when a reload that was gave to me , jammed the casing after firing in the 760 . Took it to a amateur ( Professional D.S. ) gunsmith who tried beating it out and broke the bolt face . Had to ship to Remington for a new barrel and bolt . So needed another rifle for Elk hunting and bought the 7600 , ( think that is the series for the semi's ??? ) .

Not sure what long range accuracy is , especially after the first couple of rounds as the barrels heats up . They are smaller barreled than a traditional bolt type , but since most of my Elk shots are in the 30 to 100 yard range , that has never been a problem for me .

Fred H.

P.S. Also , has others have stated , Once you get used to the action of the pump , not only is that second or third shot Very fast , but because of the lighter " Kick "
, those shots can be equally as accurate as the first .

i normally hunt with a remington 700 bolt in 30-06 but as has been mentioned, getting that 2nd round chambered and staying on target, if needed is a bit more work with a boltgun.. with a pump.. I can envision staying on target.. probably even better than my marlin 336 30-30 levergun.. which, IMHO.. I think may be too light for some critters..

I go to one private amp, and they won't let you take a 30-30 for hog :( and 30-30 used to be my favorite hog gun...

Can't use a 30-30 for hogs WTF, a 30-30 will kill any chritter in N.A., but I guess its their place their rules, a 270 will also kill anything in N.A. with the right projectile standard load is 130 gr. works well for up to elk (maybe a little to light for elk) then jump to 150 gr. IMO I would use a premimun 130 gr like nosler partition etc.. and wouldn't be afraid to shoot anything except brown bear.
