This is a land mark in my county, Table Rock. The fire started this week at 40ac and is now around 1500ac. This is a beautiful place especially in Spring and Fall.

I have been to the top many times and hope they get this under control soon. Table Rock is about 30 min from my house and several counties have been affected by the smoke.

I also had a 15-20ac fire 5 min from my house this week. I could sit on the front porch and watch the choppers drop water. Fortunately the wind was blowing it away from my house but it was a little unnerving situation. This fire is under control and is basically out. The smoke however will not leave. This morning as I left to go to work I looked over the ridge to my field below and the smoke had settled over the field. The mountain valleys in front of my house are still holding smoke.

I attached a link with pictures of the fire. I also attached a couple of picture showing the mountain and views.

Dry time in some places, lets be careful.

What a shame...We used to live in Henderson, NC and have been to Table Rock...it is really dry here in GA too...19 % humidity the other day...Yes folks should be mindful with any burning...real dangerous now...I sure hope they get it stopped.

What a shame. Do they know the cause?

We had a lot of smoke around in area at the Chickahominy River in tidewater VA yesterday, and I haven't figured out which fire it's coming from -- there are 3-4 large fires going in WV, VA, and NC that could have been the source. That's a long distance for the smoke to travel to get to us. It was thick enough to cut visibility across the river quite a bit.

They are not sure how this one started.

The one in front of my house was started by someone burning leaves.

I wish you the best. This year we made it through the dry period with very few wildfires. We are now into the fall/winter wet period. Most of our wildfires are caused by lightning. That is about the only "natural" thing I really worry about, living out here - wildfires.

Too bad.

Well, nature renews itself. In 2-3 years that will be lush green and feeding the deer.

Glad your home was not threatened by the wind direction.

Several years back, we could smell the smoke in southern Maine from forest fires in Quebec Province. It's a nasty smell that travels a long way.

Did you get any of this rain to provide a little relief?

The rain on Friday night did little to help. But it looks like the rain we received Sunday helped tremendously. I did not see any smoke this morning and could see the mountain for the first time in several days.
