well I went last thursday and picked up our new ranger,we love it, have had it for four days (didn't get to drive it yesterday poured down rain) and we have already put more hours on it than we did our boat last year, the dealer I traded my boat to said that he would make it worth my while if I went and picked up the ranger myself, well 270 miles round trip later I called him up to see what my worth my while was going to be,well I tried to get a windshield out of the deal but I seen real quick that that wasn't going to happen,so I ended up getting $100.00 in store credit.

I found a place on the net to get me a soft top,80 bucks,I like the idea of the soft top easy on easy off,but can't seem to find a good deal on a windshield,so I'm going to try to make my own, anybody did this? what is the best material to use? I'm looking at the plastic type lexan or something like that, but I'm looking at durability, don't want to have to make windshields every three or four months.

WHAT?!?!?!? No picture?

For the windshield, I don't recall what they go for, but do recall seeing them on e-bay. I made my own. I used 3/16" lexan with mar-guard (won't scratch or yellow). It doesn't bend easily (don't try it yourself) so mine is a 2 piece.

PS. Once you get that top on, you can't use the pouring rain excuse anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

that's what I'm talking about, would have been a blast driving around in the rain yesterday, but the windshield is a must,we took a road trip with it last friday to our friends house which is about 10 miles away,it was a blast till we where on our way home after dark 9:00 p.m. those bugs are killers,we where headed south and I hollared over to my wife that it seemed like all the bugs were flying north so we should be o.k. when we turn and head west, she thought that was pretty good,.

can you heat that to get it to bend a little,I haven't decided if I want to follow the body lines or just go straight across.

then gonna be in the market for some mud flaps, know what I want just have to find them, probably some more lighting front and rear, and maybe a radio after the top and windshield get on.

all I have to say is this is going to be a blast,Mom and Dad even liked it,think it will be pretty handy at the tractor shows, save alot of foot work,as you all say on the forum anything to get some seat time.

Congratulations on your new Ranger. We love ours so much we now have 2 !

After my wife bugged me enough I got the Polaris Lexan 2 piece removable wind screen and while it is quite tough (don't ask how I know) it causes a large part of the dust you kick up plus exaust fumes to swirl around you making it a hard call as to whether it is a net improvement or not. To be fair though, I hear this about most all windshields on RUVs except those with a large adjustable vent along the bottom. This is now on my list to modify.

A guy in SD makes a bug screen that mounts instead of a solid windscreen and would take care of the bugs-in-the-teeth problem as well as flying gravel, sticks, etc while not creating the eddy current that sucks in the dust and fumes. Might be a good solution for you.

Good luck & Enjoy!

Man I used Lexan, like they use in Nascar and it has been very durable. Haven,t had any problems.
