Good gosh is right. Wasn't the shipping price up front at the cart before filling in name rank and serial number and what is an Omni Gear GearBox?
Onmi Gear is a company that makes mower gearboxes and speed reductions that are used by a number of equipment manufacturers. I was ordering an OEM right angle gearbox for a Bush Hog ZTR. Of course, these little gearboxes boxes cost as much as their much larger 130HP rated ones.:confused3: Not Bush Hog or German Bliss' fault ( they actually have the cheapest price online).....that's just the way Omni Gear prices the product. That is an issue for an entirely different rant!
Shipping price wasn't shown until I filled out the online shipping/billing info....that makes sense, but there is no way UPS charges $75 to ship a >15# box 200 miles. The real kicker was, shortly after I made my first post here, I got my email invoice. It showed the gearbox I ordered had been superseded by a new one that cost approx. $100 more. This wasn't mentioned on their site or on the phone when ordered. So I called them back to ask about the price difference and they apologized-- I should have been told the old part had been superseded but they were "already losing $50 on shipping"..... Is that REALLY an apology? I didn't argue, I just cancelled my order. I wanted to use an OEM part but not if it's going to cost me $575. I'll replace it with one of Surplus Centers generic ones for $149..... which BTW weighs 23# and ships UPS 570 miles for $15.49
