Does anyone else have problems with the radiator getting plugged up on their 55 series. I washed out my radiator real good, front grill, oil cooler and cleaned the screen out. In 3 hours time of mowing tall fescue I was over heating. Radiator looked like it had not been cleaned in days. Today was a very hot day heat index was around 105. I came back home got the 4700 out and mowed all day. The heat gage never moved over about of the 1/4 of the way off the cold mark. The grill was covered when I got in with it. My 755 has a new radiator, fan and belt. Any ideas on how to keep the radiator clean. If I can keep the radiator clean it will run cool.

Maybe add a pre-screen to hold back some of the chaff from getting into the radiator.
Did it over heat befor the new radiator?

The parts illustrations shows a pre-screen and a bunch of seals and pads. Are all of yours in place?

Agree to check all the seals and pads to insure correct airflow. Most debris is caught in the external grill screen on mine. As an aside, I had previously mentioned a Fuller Brush dryer vent cleaning tool available at Lowes that makes cleaning what does get to the radiator a bit easier.

In almost 20 years, mine overheated only once. I had neglected to clean the screen in quite some time, and it was badly fouled with chaff. Once I cleaned it, no more more problems. Of course, being a New Englander, when the temperature or heat index is in the 90-100 range, you won't find me on my tractor, unless I'm in the woods where it's shady.

I never really had a problem with it getting so dirty with the old radiator like I do now. I wiil check all the seals but those were supposed to be replaced with the new radiator. As much as I hate to get rid of my 755, It may be time to replace the old girl. I just have to convince the old girl I sleep with that it is time.
