I have got a clutch that I could ONLY get 1 grease zerk removed at this time. If i can't get the other out. Will it work just as well?

One time, when trying to remove an overrunning clutch, I was able to get both zerks off but couldn't locate the pin because of all the hardened grease and debris inside. I simply compressed the C-clip holding the clutch together and slipped the outer housing off, exposing the inner components. After a little cleaning with a wire brush, the pin was obvious, and I could drive it out. Put a bucket under the clutch to collect the little parts as they drop out. Reassembly is no problem.

I've pumped grease into one of the zerks on an overrunning clutch with the second zerk removed and the grease came out the opening so my guess is you only need to put grease in one.

Those grease zerts serve 2 purposes. 1) to get grease to the moving parts inside the clutch and 2) provide an opening so that the retaining roll pin can be inserted and removed. Either one will provide grease for the entire assembly.

That is why it has only one grease nipple. The ones with 2 have the retaining roll pin. One grease fitting is all that is necessary, but they put two because they had to have 2 holes and they either had to put a plug in it and a grease nipple is cheaper!! (My guess)

i have one of the non-quick disconnect type. I had to remove 1 nipple to install the roll pin Then put it back on. i have never had it off again. i agree that it is only there to cover the hole.
