Tractor
BX2230
Since i'm waiting for my new toy....err I mean work tractor, I think i'm going to build a shed for it and my log splitter. What is the overall length of the 2230 with a FEL & Box Scraper (or other similar implement)? I'd hate to build the thing to small, not to mention the ridicule I'd get from the boss lady.

20' X 40' is the appropriate size for starters.... larger if you plan on other attachments.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would build it large enough for a full size truck and then you will know the tractor and misc items will fit in it. I just reserved a full bay in the garage for my BX2230 but my mini tractor shed will be 15' x 25'.

I could build a shop about the size of a super Wal-mart and it still wouldn't be big enough, no really, I have found that it is good to build a little bigger than you think you need to start with.

Excellent advice since you can work on the bikes and ATV and look lovingly at the tractor too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am going to assume you are looking for useful response - since you are not looking to build a shed the size of the AstroDome just to house the tractor. I bought one of those temporary canvas type garages to house my BX23 over the winter and it has worked out pretty well. The size was 12' wide x 24' deep - essentially a 1 car garage size. With that floor space I can get the tractor with the loader and rear blade installed on the 3pt, the backhoe is in one back corner, the box blade is next to it in the other corner, the lawn roller is in front of the backhoe unit and the snowblower I just bought is in front of the lawn roller. With all that stuff in there it pretty much takes up all the space, but I can still move around easily. From this experience I would say the absolute minimum space you would need to put the tractor in and still be able to move around it would be 6 foot wide by about 18 long. This is assuming that you have a loader on the tractor and something mounted on the 3 pt. I think if it was me I would just build a 1 car garage. Building something just big enough for the tractor and the log splitter will inevitably be too small as you add implements. Something 1 car garage size gives more than enough room for the tractor, implements and other stuff but will give you enough room to work on the tractor and have workbench in there too plus some added storage space. Plus if you don't already have a garage it will give you some place to pull the car in out of the weather and work on that too. If I can get to it I will take a pic of the tractor in the garage to give you and idea of how it all fits in.

I pretty much agree with Jim W. I wouldn't build much less than 8 x 16 so you can move around a little.

I have a BX2200 with loader, rear blade, mowing deck, weight box, and york rake crammed in to a 10x16 Cover-it shelter. My advice, build it bigger! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I bought a coring aerator last year and it's outside cause there ain't no more room. BTW, the tractor with the fel and back blade just fit length wise with not much to spare.
