I am considering the LS R4041 from a local dealer and he quoted me a price of $21,200 on a new 2013 model with FEL. This includes Tax, RimGuard and Delivery 40 miles. During my research on this model I notice a dealer in TX offering the oversized tires on the R4041 as a free "upgrade." They are the slightly larger tires standard on the R4047. The local dealer says this is standard on the R4041 and not really an upgrade at all. However, the spec sheets shows the tires sizes to be different on these two models. He says they always order the same tires sizes on those models. (I actually had another dealer tell me it wasn't even possible to put the larger tires on the R4041 and that it would void the warranty.)

Question #1 - I live in Western PA. How does this price sound to you? The dealer price in TX might be a little better but the delivery cost vs taxes is a wash.
Questions #2 - Anyone have any personal experience with the tire size. The tire size is not really that significant but are there any really advantages or disadvantages to a slightly larger tire?

Thanks in advance for help and suggestions. This is my first real tractor and I really like the LS line. I and have read all the reviews and I think I will be satisfied. I would really like to get the tractor before the Tier 4 Shibaura engines (or some other make) are used.

The bigger the tire, the smaller the bump.

My R4010 (same as 4041) has the smaller tires (lots of room between the fender and the tire). I have a hard time seeing the warranty problems, as isn't the difference between the 4047 and 4041 HP alone? Aren't they the same machine other than engine output?

I wish I had the bigger tires.

I bought a R4041 Shuttle about a month ago. It came with the larger tires. There was a R4041 and R4047 beside each other. The tires were identical.

The larger tires will give you a little (not much) more ground clearence and I would guess maybe a little more traction.Other than my 4049 Montana (an LS4020 or LS4047 new#) both my ford jubilee and my ford 841 have the next size larger tires it was kind of the normal back then. The only thing I could see wrong with having the larger tires would be if you want to put tire chains on during the winter, because there really isn't that much space between the tires and the fenders with the larger tires.

I've seen several 41s and 47s parked next to one another with the same tires on them....the tractor is the same size, as is the engine, so it makes sense.

Since it includes tax, and Rimguard, I think the price is reasonable. My 47H was $21,500 delivered (no tax for ag use), but I didn't load the tires.

My 4041 shuttle came standard with the larger tires, dealer didn't even mention the smaller ones, though I'm sure I could have gotten them had I wanted.

My dealers price for a 4041 hydro is $20400.

Thanks for all the info. It seems it pretty much confirmed that the smaller tires were once standard on the 4041 but since have gone to the same size for both the 4041 and 4047. I called the factory yesterday and spoke to a women in purchasing~says she does the purchasing of the tires and they only have the one tire set specified for those models. She was diplomatic enough to say that it is still a dealer upgrade....

Price seems in line with all other dealers. Still have one more dealer to check out. Still a little nervous about the whole thing, a lot of money for me and first tractor. I really like the LS.
