Thinking about a CK20 HST -
Anything you regret or would change with the machine??
Any implements you wish you bought as a package??

Thanks for the info!!

Same footprint... much larger engine.

Around 30 HP would be perfect on that frame.

Others here will sureley flame me... would 25 be sufficient? Probably for MOST chores, yes. But you asked about what would I change to make it PERFECT... I would drop a 30 HP engine in it. I regularly run mine out of what it has to offer or baby it through tasks.

Robert, just out of curiosity, did you ever get the issue resolved where your CK20 would not back over the 2x4 or drive through the small depression in your yard while in high range?

As for flaming you, no, I will agree with you. Others will flame both of us. But NH is upping the HP in their small frame tractors (the little TC24 is being bumped up to 26hp so in the same size package as the CK20 you can get 6 more HP) and it appears that Kubota is taking their redesign to make slighly smaller machines with similar HP to their older models, so in effect they seem to be upping the HP to size/weight ratio. JD has already begun rolling out their new models and they have more HP than their older versions.

1. suspension seat
2. Tilt steering column
3. cup holder
4. dual hydraulic pumps
5. larger tool box, in a better location
6. better check chains (more adjustment)
7. ability to put a steering wheel knob on
8. better ROPS tightening ability (rattles)
9. re-routed exhaust (hot foot)

I really like your list Mathey. I would have added some of those also.

<font color="blue">3. cup holder</font>
Yup. I've either used the sides of the seat and occasionally lost an aluminum can soda down under the seat or strapped a jogging bottle to the FEL support over the dash.

I fixed this one just by tightening them all the way down and using lock-tite on the threads.

They also really need to put "No, its not made by Kubota" underneath their logo, but this applies to all their tractors.. not just the CK20 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I tightened mine so hard by hand (and tool) the plastic knobs broke, and it still rattled. Then I couldn't get the bolts back out, so i had to cut them off...replaced them with regular hex bolts for safety (still rattled) and made a wedge out of a small piece of plywood and a large fender washer jammed in there...doesn't rattle any more!

this is how i fixed some of the other issues i'd listed...

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( 1. suspension seat )</font>

i replaced the current rigid seat base with one from Tractorseats.com not much but a little improvement

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( 5. larger tool box, in a better location )</font>

u-bolted an old ammo box to one of the ROPS uprights

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( 6. better check chains (more adjustment) )</font>

tossed the old check chains out, replaced with regular chain and threaded links, not the easiest to change, but works better than stock...i have some pretty good dents inside the rear fenders from implement usage with the stock check chains

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( 9. re-routed exhaust (hot foot) )</font>

wife props her foot up on a block of wood, works for her

If your rops bolts don't stay tight then try putting a jam nut on them. Tighten the knob down then tighten the nut, shouldn't come loose again.

It wasn't really a case of them coming loose as it was they were not able to be tightened enough to prevent the rattle.

I'm not sure how it is on the CK20 but on my CK30 I would relocate the ignition switch. I've hit it 3 or 4 times with my knee!
