Owner opinions please: LTX 1042

Tampa, 2.4 acres mostly flat, sparse grass with many trees. Plan to do yard every 2-3 weeks with mulcher. Opinions about this application including maintenance schedule, type/brand of engine oil, transmission oil, grease, air and oil filter would be welcome.
The plan is to buy just enough tractor to do the job while rigorously maintaining it for a long life.

2.4 acres is prolly pushing that design, IMHO. The 1042's are intended for the <1 acre lawns. Might look at the1500 or 2500 cub tractors - more $ up front, but will last.
As to your maintenance items, they will be detailed in the owner's manual for whichever machine you decide on. And, the 1042 series have nothing unusual but do have a factory sealed type hydro xmission... keeping any machine clean and out of the weather is also critical for long life.
Tampa - sandy soil ? If so, look at a snapper RER or such w/o the hi-lift deck blade wings. Sand being sucked up under a deck with a lot of lift can wear out blades in short order...

Unless you are experienced in this sort of maintenance on L&G tractors, then finding a competent full service dealer becomes a serious factor. L&G eqpt by nature are maintenance intensive - stay away from the big box stores, not much service support there.

I agree that the LTX 1042 is for under 1 acre. I would look at the 2500 series Cub Cadet.
