I have a 5030C; with only a couple hours runtime, my power steering is growling, I guess it needs fluid. Where does it go? I see one dipstick in the back left of the engine before the cab. I assume it's engine oil. I see one device with a rubber stopper cap toward the front left of the engine, looks like it may be hydraulic fluid. ANY help, please, pictures would be great. I don't see too well since my mini-stroke. Thanks very much.

I don't have experience with that particular machine, but most tractors use hydraulic fluid from the common sump for the steering, there is no separate reservoir.

As stated most modern tractors, don't have a separate sump. It has been 20 years since I have owned a tractor that has a separate power steering pump and reservoir that was belt driven. I would bet yours is not belt driven. You can look under the hood, and trace the accessory belt path and look for what is driven by it of course. If you have noise when you turn the wheels, or growling as you stated it is time to call the dealer for repair. the rubber stopper is liable to be the engine oil filler cap. The hydraulic oil filler is not liable to be anywhere near the engine. Mine is on the back of the tractor, by the 3pt hitch.

I have 5030 LS and it does use hydraulic fluid from the common sump for the steering. I would get your dealer to check it. The dip stick to check the hydraulic fluid is at the back on the right. My stick is colored white.

i would check to see if the lines running to the steering rams are pinched chaffed or broken..mine came from my dealer with the left side pinchex between the tractor frame and the loader frame..

My sincere thanks to all of you for your help & suggestions. I checked for pinched hoses as TJ suggested and did rearrange one close to frame & loader. I traced some others and it appears, the way the hoses are run, there may be some future problems with chafing etc., unless I do something about them. Seems quieter now though. Again, my appreciation; thanks.
